This was on Ebay 2 weeks ago, ended last week with no sale. Had some extra cash from selling some stuff on local CL & some duplicate unneeded antique tools on Ebay in the past few days & was hoping that the saw wasn't sold locally.

87cc gear drive beast made from 1959 to 1960.:yes::saw: Called Rich this afternoon,he still had it.

A couple PayPal transfers later, its on the way - $240 shipped to my door.;) The 36" bar alone is worth $50 easily....

I'm still wanting an 895 103cc gear drive someday, there's one with the rare kart engine on ebay now,but its a bit more than I can swing at the moment unfortunately.....

And I just found out that the 36" bar will fit all my other big Macs also, like I hoped... :saw: Save me some wall/shelf space & lots of cash in the future over buying duplicate bars etc...

Saw is boxed up,will ship out Monday morning.Should arrive in about a week.

    It's pronounced MA-CAH-LA?

    I always called it MIC-CAH-LUK

The last C is always silent. Most people that don't know any better pronounce it Muhcullock, instead of Muhculluh.

Had some left in PayPal account,so I grabbed this earlier today.Offered the Seller $50,they accepted it.PayPal balance paid 2/3rds of it anyway.

Very good shape for the vintage (late '50's to late 60's roughly).Even the suspension isn't too bad - I wont be wearing it however - its going on the shelf  :saw:

These old MAC-T helmets don't show up very often & are usually pretty beat up with lots of missing paint.Last one I seen was in mint condition (pretty much New Old Stock) last month - it sold for around $110 if I remember. There is a company on the West Coast that makes an ''updated'' version of this, with nylon ratchet suspension.Same shape heavy duty aluminum shell too - only thing is they're only available in unpainted natural color & hi-vis Orange & not Yellow. Bailey's sells them.I seen a couple on Ebay a while back too.

Nice! One power head for the smaller bar and one for the long stick.

    Next up? Homelite StickShift?

I sure would like one of their big gear drives, like a 3100G or what have you,the late 70's direct drive 750 is at the top of my Homie want list (get in line I know  )....Will see how the overtime looks in a couple weeks.First want that 48" rollernose & 2 matching skip chains for the Mac 125 that I've been putting off for a year now. After that's done,I'll put a lid on my splurging for a while. :saw:

Arrived today.... I worked 1.5 hr overtime again tonight, big old box on front porch when I got home.Didnt even go inside first to clean up or fix dinner, opened the box & went right to work cleaning the saw with air compressor, old toothbrush & a couple rags.:DInstalled that 32" bar & very rare 5A 1/2" pitch very sharp chain (easily 85% life left),put a bit of fuel in the tank & started it up....Loads of compression, that electronic ignition module makes for faster/easier starting.....

One of these days I'll get a video of it cutting something... :saw::smoke:

No pics yet of the 1-70 project that arrived last Saturday,I'll get a couple soon.Ordered a very good air filter cover with almost perfect badge, hould arrive in a day or so.Also needs an air filter, fuel line/filter,the clutch pawl springs could be replaced also.Simple fixes for the near future. The 24" bar wasn't in the heavy shipping box, though a very good chain was & no sign that the bar poked through the box either.Seller refunded part of my payment,I'm pleased with that. I can always grab a good used bar fairly cheap from someone else.

Quite an adjustment working 3 to midnight shift this week....but after 3 nights finally used to it now.Only thing is we are also working Saturday from 7AM to noon or so goingback to normal 7AM -330PM on Monday 8/18 :loco:  :headbang:My caffeine intake is a bit higher than usual this week, though I will admit to sleeping quite well after getting home & cleaned up around 130-2AM

But there is an upside to the overtime I've been getting lately.....I bought another saw, from same seller of the 1-70. :saw:

The 1-61 arrived via FedEx this morning, after I got home from work.Looks pretty good, gave it a quick clean with an old rag, fired after 5-6 pulls then quit.Needs a tiny bit adjustment to the carb, the compression is great, original rope was weak & frayed & it broke after last pull.No big deal,I'll fix it Monday morning sometime since I'm staying on nights with the rest of the crew for another week at least. Not so bad once I got used to it.

Check back in with me once you've been at it for a few years.... :headbang::loco: :hair:

Actually 3pm-11pm/12am ain't terrible for the single man. I've been working 11pm-7am for over four years now. Hoping to end that era here very soon.

I worked 3-11... swing shift... or 3rd shift for quite a while and it was nice. Had a chance to get stuff done in the morning. I'd normally go to bed around 1-2AM, get up around 7:30-8 and had till around 1:30 before I had to get ready for work (hr drive)

I did 11-7 as well.. mid shift or 1st shift we called it. I didn't mind it other than having to do mandatory bullcrap during the day, like going in for a pizz test or some stupid "training" management (all worked 2nd shift...days) decided everyone needed to get done. Usually never failed they would wait until I was all the way home, just going to bed and call. Then me saying tough, I'm tired, it's my night and I'm not driving 2 hours because of poor planning... yeah... that went over like a fart in church.

I think 2nd shift was the worst. Waking up at 5AM, dealing with rush hour traffic, all the management and association bullcrap that comes with it. The other two shifts you just got stuff done and didn't worry about pleasing the whims of 12 layers of bosses.

Had some time this morning so I worked on the latest find for a few minutes. - 1-61 Gear Drive,80cc made from 1960-61.Repaired the broken original rope (only lost 2 inches of its length),reshaped that 'hook' at the end of the recoil spring that goes ...inside the starter pulley slot & adjusted the carburetor a little. Not quite there, but getting closer.Saw came with very good 24" hardnose bar & a decent 1/2" pitch chain. Those are hanging on the bench/shelf until needed.
