New customer, second phase of work im doing for her. Couple bigger sugar maple limbs with the brush removed. Buck and haul away all wood. Before i started. Another smaller maple fell across the stream on the back of her property. Made brush dump run and bucked it up to streams edge yesterday. I was surprised at how much i had loaded before a downpour put an end to my cutting. Didnt think there was that much. Bark coming off too. No rot or punk and most of the already cut rounds were close enough to my length. Ill unload at storage tomorrow and finish up. Getting paid to hoard wood...what a concept! A couple rounds have some spalting which ill give to a turner i know.
For sure. Phase one was cleaning up a fir top that broke in a storm a year ago plus a couple big piles of brush and pruning a maple too.
Beauty sugar maple buZZsaw BRAD. Looks like that triple crotch section is the worst of it (not counting the brush removal) Got to love getting paid to make firewood which will pay you again down the road
Would you believe i unloaded it in ten minutes? I get to the dump at 1135. It closes at 1145. I was convinced it was noon. Cranky old man there says ive got five minutes. Im going B2TW, finish up and pull out as they are closing the gate. I stop and he goes "be careful dont get a heart attack" as im sucking wind sweat pouring off me. Now he tells me!
Finished up yesterday. She has more work for me. At least one more big limb. Also has a MAMMOTH (twin 36" trunks) silver maple blowover. Look carefully in pic #3 of the OP and you can see it in the distance.
That silver maple is a behemoth. The rootball is maybe 15' tall. She got a price from a tree service that included stump removal and filling in the hole. If you saw this tree i wouldnt argue about needing equipment for it. House was built in 1949 so tree was planted soon there after (im assuming) Kinda wish i had snapped a couple pics of it.
If you saw the size of this tree your jaw would drop. I have to see her to get paid and see if she is ready for phase three of the clean up...a red maple top landed on her shed. Insurance may cover it. Ill get a pic when i go back. Tree service is probably doing that huge tree.
