Need the down lo on this stove. I currently have the 13nc and wouldn't mind a couple more hours burn. What are you guys getting with this stove with good seasoned hardwood? Tia

Yep, the new one. Kimberly has one (?), but not yet installed. I saw some talk of it on Hearth or Arborist Site, IIRC, but I don't of anyone here with one installed.

I have the 02 model sitting out in the drive. I hope to have it installed soon. I went today and got the stuff to build the hearth pad.

Subscribing. As much as I love my 13NC, the "Little Big Stove", at least a couple more hours burn time would be great.

The manual for the stove says Up to 14 hours burn time.

That's what I'm talking about. I'm lucky to get 6 with the 13. Other than that I love it. It packs a punch

    When it's real cold here, it's 4-5 hours for me...................otherwise, 6 is a gooder average. I agree..............great heater!!!

Unless you want to cut your wood at 9" long, the 13NC essentially dictates that you load it EW. And by doing so, you cannot load as much wood into it vs. a NS loader. When I'm burning chunks, uglies and shorties; I can push it out to 7-8 hours..............mainly because the firebox is more fully loaded. I'd say that in my normal EW load, the firebox is only is 2/3 to 3/4 full.

I will see if I can do some measurements tomorrow and take some photos of the firebox if it would help. I wish I had the stove installed now as it has turned cold again.

rebelduckman , I found this link for you regarding the stove you're asking about.
Hope this provides the info you were asking for, otherwise, you could download the manual.

I am still trying to get used to the pedestal look of the stove. The very first thing I did with the 13 was to take that damm pedestal of and put the proper set of legs on it!! Those are my personal preferences understand. But then, I look at the stove while it burns also!

The outputs are rated pretty close, both on the company website and on the EPA certified list but I don't see it....the 13 is 1.8 cu.ft. and the Madison is 2.45 (not sure what they actually measure in usable firebox space.) I would think with that much more box, the Maddy would have to toss quite a bit more heat.

When I first started looking at stoves, I liked the idea of it sitting on legs. However, I found out that the regulation for manufactured homes stated something about bolting the stove to the floor. That may have changed because the pedestal does not have any holes in it unless I would have to drill them myself; I think it is silly saying to bolt a 437 pound stove to the floor; no one is going to accidentally shift that stove. There is also the OAK requirement although I don't see why you could not have that feature on a stove sitting on legs. I noticed that a lot of stoves don't come with the option of legs, pedestal only. I guess it is not too bad sitting on a pedestal and the stove can sit higher on a pedestal; with legs they would have to be beefier because of the load.

From what I can see, you should probably be able to grind the welds and then weld on steel legs of some sort. I can take photos of the underside tomorrow.

Yes, I liked the large square window better than the arched one on the 30; and that little extra relief on the door also adds to the look. While it does not have the grace of a 3000 $ cast iron enameled stove, she still looks nice to me.
