So I found an engorged tiny tick on me about 2 weeks ago. Pulled it off and of course didnt get the head. Kept an eye on the spot and of course a nice bullseye rash develops.
Doc tells me yesterday, you have lyme disease, second guy this week.
Here's the funny thing, I don't really feel any worse than I usually do. I generally feel like crap with joint pain from multiple surgeries, I have young kids and work late, so I'm always exhausted, and I frequently get headaches from multiple concussions.
    Antibiotics for 3 weeks... Great.
    Life goes on.
Anyone else have lyme and not feel much different?

I've heard that if they catch it early they can usually get rid of it. Good luck

I think the symptoms worsen over time if it's not dealt with. You're lucky you caught it early.

That's terrible. I've never had it so I can't comment but I wish you a fast recovery.

I use multiple types of bug crap bc of those bastages. 40% deet aerosol plus military surplus deet creme seems to keep em off.

BV did he put you on antibiotics? If you caught it early it's beatable...

My daughter developed the bullseye last year and we got her on anti ' s right away, she's fine.

Did you hear about the newest tick-bourne disease that makes you allergic to red meat? Oh man, that would SUCK!!! Yes its real, too.......

The only thing that works around here is a heavy layer of Permethrin on your clothing. There are times when we are turkey hunting in the spring that you are literally COVERED with them. Put Permethrin on your clothing and you have no problems. Also eat lotsa garlic.......it's a natural repellent. I eat lotsa garlic and (knock on wood) have never been bitten by one that I recall.....

You are lucky you caught it so early - you should be completely fine.

Ive had 2 friends get it when we where in college, one got it twice. Neither one of them ever got the rash or found the tick, they where only diagnosed when never ending flu symptoms and joint pain set in after a couple months.... in both cases they where cured but required months of drugs.

Blue- glad you caught it early! Ive talked to friends that have had it, and a different experience with them all. Some, flulike symptoms, some nothing. Just this week I have wondered if I may have it also. Ive been getting joint pain w/o the swelling, but the red flag is that the joint pain has been moving to different joints day by day. So ill be giving the dr a call. Good luck brother.

@Scotty Overkill - a tick bite that causes one to be allergic to red meat, wow! Thats insane.......

The red meat allergy is from a lone star tick bite. It's a brown tick with a single white dot on its back.
It injects an enzyme into your blood stream that causes the reaction to red meat consumption.

Is there a treatment or cure? That would be terrible.

BV glad to hear you were looking for it and caught it early. That is a scary disease, if not caught it can really mess with your body.

Yes! I'm sorry, It "SUCKS", I had it in 2010, I drove myself to the Hopspital with a 103.4* fever and felt like I went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson and Bruce Lee. Every joint in my body hurt, "ached" I was bit behind the arm pit and didn't notice the bullseye till before I went to the ER. They guess I had it about 5 days and it started coming on like flu symptoms, I thought I was just getting sick. Now my body aches when were getting damp cold weather for a spell. It never leaves your system, At any rate, my body aches from a "variety" of other things as well:eek:, That God they just keep making Beer and Motron!:drunk: The funny thing about this story is, I was living in East "Lyme" Connecticut, where the first case was found and how it got it's name. I was stationed there at the USCG Academy.

Because it's an allergy the body will begin to develop an immunity to it - no real treatment, just time

Ugh, been there. Didn't get off easily. Had a football size cellulitis on my abdomen from it. Most painful thing ever. Took two rounds of antibiotics to rid me of the the symptoms. Now on long term arthritis medication.

I started looking online a little.
Apparently there are conflicting reports that lyme may be transmitted sexually between partners.
Great... I have enough trouble convincing the wife to have sex with me!
Add it to the list of excuses :
    I have a headache
I have to wash my hair
    You'll give me lyme disease

Glad you caught it early Blue! That can be some nasty stuff.

Mastermind (Randy Evans) went untreated for a long time before they caught his. If you ever get a chance to speak with him, it's an eye opening story. He is lucky to be here today!

Keep taking the med school and hope you can beat the Lymes!

This is hilarious! !
