Thinking about getting a Lopi wood burning insert. Any Lopi owners out there? Lopi is made about 10 miles from me so I figure parts will be easy enough to get. I've always been with an open fireplace so this will be a change. Has a blower and cat. I burn mostly big leaf maple and birch but have some apple, dogwood and oak for next year. I guess I'll need to watch some videos about how to get the best burn times and working the flue. Any tips? Thanks

I don't own a Lopi but I've heard nothing but good reports from owners.

As for inserts, I've burned one for years. My vintage 1980 Buck was replaced 6 years ago with a Buck 80 catalyst insert. Huge difference! The 80 actualy heats the house whereas the vintage Buck just heated the room...if it wasn't too cold outside.

I load the Buck 80 at 0700 and again at 1900. Loads are up to 8 or 9 splits depending on the size of the splits. That's about 85% drop in wood usage.

First 2 basics with a Cat unit....very basics.
Whatever you get make sure you get a catalyst probe and watch the Cat. temps.

Second, get a moisture meter and make sure the wood you use is under 20%. Less is more, moisture will quickly destroy a catalyst.

Is there a way to bypass the cat if the wood is too wet? Can you still burn if the cat is destroyed?

Juniper Hill I bought a Lopi Revere insert back in 2018. It is not a 'cat' stove but it does have the reburn tubes. Works well and throws off a lot of heat.

Had a friend when I lived in Eastern Wyoming that had a Lopi insert and it worked very well for them and that was burning Ponderosa Pine. They look nice too.

My father has a Lopi wood stove, it's not an insert. He bought it new about 15 years ago, it's not a cat stove. It does a wonderful job of heating his insulated 36x32 shop. Winters here are 10-60 F and he burns mostly pine

I have a Lopi Endeavor free standing stove in my home gym. I freaking LOVE that thing. It heats like a banshee. It burns clean and hot. It heats my whole gym from the low 30's to the low 60's in about 35-40 minutes. It even heats the gym equipment, like the bars and silicone lubricated pulleys and stuff - which is important. It was already in the house when we moved in. It's probably from the mid 90's. It's a non cat stove. I literally light it and go on about my day. It's the easiest stove to light that I've ever had. I constantly tell my wife how much I love the thing. You cannot go wrong with a Lopi.

Not only do I own a Lopi insert, I've also taken their factory tour! When I bought my house in 2011 one of the first things I did was buy my Republic 1250i. Yes, it's small but so is my house at 1155 square feet. If I had it to do over again I'd probably get the next size up just for longer burns. This one will do 5 hours with the common wood species around here and kept my house warm during our cold snap after Christmas when temps were down around 10°.
Parts availability? I wouldn't know because the only thing I've replaced is a few fire bricks.

I have a Lopi Rockport. I try to use it as my main heat source in our 2 story 1840 drafty farm house. Has served me well for the most part. I did replace the cat end of last year for a steel one.

Our kitchen and 2nd floor added bedroom really doesnt get the heat, but that's the house design, not the stove's fault.

I dont get the long burn times they advertise. But Im also not sure what they are considering burn time.
