I'm new to this club so hello to all my fellow burners out there--my first question is about my woodburner--it's a vogelzang frontiersman model vg450elg--open the glass door and look up there's an 8x8 metal plate suspended 2-3" below the flue--it has curled down in the front--like a bullnose countertop i guess from the heat--anyway to fix this? it limits the logs i can jam in there--secondly how to meet some others as nuts as i am about hoarding, conservation of trees, and such
Watch out for these guys! They are such smooth talkers that before you know it they will have you buying new stoves and chainsaws! Gary
Welcome from another Buckeye....as said pics will help and if you don't know how to upload pics we can get you through that too.
Hello there scavenger Use the "upload a file" button to post pics. Like Locust Post said- we're here to help! Glad ya joined up, and Gary_602z is the real one to look out for! See how he tried to jump out ahead of everyone?
well thanks guys for the hardy hello and concern--yeah this picture thing will be interesting--if i have a pic on a cell phone (flip) how can i get it to fhc site? and what do you want to see?? a pic of my woodburner would maybe be exciting or my wood pile i guess or perhaps my GMC loaded with wood i cut in someone's yard while they were in sunny florida--and this computer is only here at work as i don't have one (or want one) at home--no tv suits me fine--i'm a xm radio junkie as well as hoarding firewood so you see what you have your hands on--so send step-by-step and i'll start snaping
yeah, maybe it's just north east but rounds are lengths of a log usually about 16 inches long.. splits are are made by splitting rounds into smaller pieces.. How you choose to split is up for discussion. I got wedges sledge hammer and splitting mall but tend to split the elm and others with a hydraulic splitter.
44 degrees with a promise of sunshine here on the north coast--looks like time to bring in a load--anyone with me?? cold beer to follow
scavenger Welcome aboard! You asked about your wood stove and it sure does sound like it is from heat. Has the stove been overfired? Maybe? You will find lots of advice here. The pic posted just fine....by the way, FHC really likes it when you have pics! And it has nothing to do with the illiteracy rate, really!
I don't know what over firing is--you mean jamming in as much as possible so i don't have to get up but 3 times throughout the night to restoke?--hope those days are behind me for several months--and what are some popular gatherings (festivals, parties) FHC might endorse or recommend in my neck of the woods? ha ha
