Looking at an older Kohler 6.5kw generator, the data plate says 50 cycles, which I’m guessing means 50hz.

Can this be changed via idling up the rpms a little to make 60? Or is this set in stone. I already have a 5500 Screamin demon generator. The one I’m looking at runs at 1800rpm and liquid cooled, elec start, which is appealing.

This is a project piece, more than a emergency power source and the price is in my range for a project, just would like it to meet my needs at the end of said project. I’ve never really played with generators aside from carb cleaning.

interesting that it says 1800 rpm for 50hz. Frequency X 120 ÷ number of poles is synchronous rpm. Check the frequency and voltage as you speed it up and see if it regulates and keeps the voltage at 120/240.
