I bought a barn-find 1957 Pioneer RA chainsaw several years back (around 4 or 5 years back, IIRC), it was in remarkably good original condition, it had very low hours on it but had no spark. After finding it to be the points had come loose, I repaired it and ended up selling it. Well, I just bought it back!! And I got some plans for it!

That thing that baffles me is this saw is painted green and silver, and it's blatantly obvious that it is absolutely the original paint. There isn't a SINGLE TRACE of yellow, like all the other RA's I've seen. That has me stumped......

Great lookin' saw. They don't make anything like they used to. Probably last forever.

I've got some plans for this.....
Powdercoat, port job and some polished stainless acorn nuts and hardware, big air filter, polished fins on the cylinder and a custom polished stainless fan directional shroud. Stay tuned .........

Was this a blind CL find or did the guy look you up to see of you wanted it back?

I'm keeping it. I'll probably have around 150 bucks in the upgrades....

I work with the guy, and part of the deal when I sold it to him was that if I ever wanted it back, he'd sell it back to me.

Maybe thats what they need to do down there in Miami...fire up a bunch of these old saws on "heritage mix" fuel...those Zika skeeters won't stand a chance!

Sounds like this will be quite the looker when its done!

Back in the 50s, that's what they used for mix....

When I originally bought the saw several years ago, I got it running like a top and was using a 40:1 AmsOil mix.....seems to run great and still lunging the sycliner perfectly. So that's what I'll continue to use in her.....
