Area i travel often. Noticed fresh access gravel driveway and gate put in. Clearing an area for solar farm as i saw the pallets of panels etc. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago when i spotted the log deck and big machines. Off limits i thought. Gate locked. Went by today and gate open and a few vehicles parked. Decided it didnt hurt to ask. Found the site foreman and he gave me a card for the company owner which i called. "My log buyer will be there end of next week and whatever is left you can have at" First pile of mostly shagbark hickory and oak. Last pic mound of root balls. They have a big tub grinder to bring in. Couple minutes from home and easy access off the street to cut and load. Wonder what will be left. Im loving the Goldilocks size for hot weather hoarding. Its going to be a long week and a half. I was in a really good mood after i left. Stay tuned FHC.
Best of luck Brad. Hope they leave you somethin’. Next couple days here are supposed to be absolutely brutal with heat. Doesn’t matter what was up for grabs, I’d pass. Stay safe!
Yeah, hoping some decent stuff will be left. Wondering if buyer brings in a triaxle or what? Didnt really study species carefully just saw the hickory and oak in first pile and the biggest log in second was TOH. I need 9-10 PU fulls to fill new shed. Only drawback is the site hours...weekdays 630-330. Gonna find out. Everyone i spoke with was very cool and easy going. I was thinking id get turned down
Unfortunately i cant take log length delivery. On rare occasions ive brought partial loads to storage and bucked off the truck. Mostly from the dump though.
More or less the same here. Maybe some bad storms tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow I may go and cut another load of dead ash at my FBM score from June. In the shade but still very unpleasant.
Rent a trailer for a day, give them a case of beer for loading you and haul as many loads home as you can. Good score.
Nice Brad! Good call on asking! That certainly paid off. My neighbor (younger guy who does a lot of flipping on FB Marketplace) told me that Iron Horse Equipment on South Turnpike rents trailers for the day. He’s used them a few times to haul compact tractors. I think he said they’re reasonable; $75-$100 a day. Nice looking trailers too; double axle units and heavy duty single axles. They have them parked perpendicular to the base of Cook Hill.
Indeed nice size logs to work with in the heat. Easy access and loading. I'll be all over that. Good luck Brad. Hopefully they just don't leave you TOH.
All Saints cemetery property. End of Roarke Rd. You interested in any if enough left behind? Weekdays during business hours cutting time the only drawback.
I was just gonna say...sounds like its time to keep an eye on FBMP for a good deal on a trailer! You lucky he didn't throw ya out!
