Finally back from the cabin. Truck spit out the alternator bearing on the Mighty Mac about 8:30 this morning. Made it off the bridge and into an auto plaza before it locked up. No parts in town, started calling around and the nearest alternator is at Autozone in Cheboygan. I am an Autozone commercial account so the manager calls my local store, verifies info etc. no problem. No commercial driver on Sunday's, so Conrad, the manager sends his wife and 5 month old daughter with the part to Mackinac City! Total downtime was 2hrs. Folks at the plaza were very helpful & friendly as well. If anyone goes through Cheboygan MI. please poke your head into the store and tell Conrad and Deirdre that Adam says thanks again! I would also ask any willing members to give a five star review of Conrad on the AZ website please. Customer reviews factor in heavily on bonuses etc for these folks. They went way above and beyond to get us back on the road! On another note, we were discussing the weather in a different thread, and Haftacut posted this little blurb. "Sounds like fun! I was in calumet earlier this week and it was beautiful Just wait, it’ll be early October and pushing 90 downstate" 72 and quite nice when we left, got home and it's 85 & humid after driving through two monsoons on the trip. Traffic at a crawl due to the visibility. My grandson said "papa I think I wanna move up here, I love it". Anybody wanna buy a really busy auto repair and firewood business? Anyway, we made it home safe and really enjoyed the trip.
Glad you got fixed up and had the knowledge on how to replace the part...... Thank Goodness that the manager went beyond to help you out... But you are a likeable kinda of fellow...

Done. Great to hear of a good trip and some great customer service! I know many people poo poo on AZ, but my experiences with them have been generally very positive...here locally its NAPA that has "meh" CS.

Sorry to hear you had problems but happy you got going again. When you are in the north country you will find many like Conrad! Dang, I still miss being up there.
