When you get a delivery of logs, can they work by the power lines up by the rd. Im thinking they can work their way in their. Warner ???
This guy made it under the lines no prob. I guess it would depend on the location and the drivers comfort level.
It all depends upon the height; both of lines and truck. If too close, the wise will always be cautious.
That company got bought out I haven’t felt with them since. New England forest products. In greenfield. I did buy l load from Kings dairy farm on west elm in Townsend but last time I called and left a message I didn’t get a reply. I have seen a grapple truck parked on rt 31 by the Greenville estates. I believe it is owned by Martin Pelliter. I can get his number from his nephew if you want. Thayer wood energy was getting 900 last time I called.
As others have said, it’ll come down to the driver. Never dealt with a log truck but plenty of masonry supply cranes which are essentially the same thing. Some drivers go out of their way to find a reason not to offload. Some move Heaven and earth to get the job done. Actually had a new driver Show up with a boom truck and proceed to tell me it’s not his job to offload, just deliver LOL His job didn’t survive my next phone call.
Pelliter dosnt deal with homeowners. This is one of the loads that I get for 100 a cord 10 foot lengths. I can give you this guys number but he is working a wood lot in Vermont and isn’t delivering wood for at least 5 weeks.
I met him and talked with him we are going to talk when he gets home from Vermont. Talked on the phone for a little , seems like a good guy.
I like the way he delivers with the dump truck. Im trying to find somwhere i can get a log truck delivery. Theres a couple of old landingS down the rd Im looking into
FWIW there is a minimum height power lines need to be above any intersecting roads, including driveways. If it’s determined they are too low the utility will raise them for you. Easiest method is just call the utility, express your concerns over getting a truck on the property. They’ll drive by and make a determination. Better than extending a metal tape measure up there and frying your butt
It is nice looking out the widow at a nice pile of logs... if you do end up getting a grapple delivered I would suggest you have them put at least three stringers on the ground. They usually only do two and pile it high. It will keep from getting the bar pinched somewhat. And have a big bar handy to pry the log when it does pinch. Last load i got I had him put 6 stringers down 3 and 3 next to each other to spread the pile out. It ain’t fun climbing on a load stacked high.
Any log truck driver worth his salt can get a truck in a tight place. You would be surprised. They definitely don’t want to go home with the wood on the truck.
