Looked at the Menard's ad today and they have their log splitter on sale for $699. It is a 22 ton. That's less than we bought ours for over 20 years ago!

What brand? After hand splitting for years I'm considering taking the plunge into the world of hydraulics.

That's a nice price, for sure.
Ralphie Boy, take the plunge! Take the plunge! There is still plenty of exercise to be had with hydraulics. That's just my humble opinion on the topic. LOL

Wow, that's just a Grant more than what I bought my used Huskee 22t for. Good on ya for posting the deal, Savage. I would be all over that if I was in the market for a splitter.

    Yep, that's it.

Great deal on that splitter. Coincidentally I was at a local hardware store, that sells Ariens equipment, and they have a new 22ton ariens splitter on sale for 1199. That's a great deal too, especially since the ariens is so well designed as to where the wheels are when splitting horizontally. My parents paid about 1600 for their MTD H/V 21 ton about the same time backwoods savage got his.

At some point, maybe this year, I'll just buy my parents a nice electric splitter and I'll take the gas one back home with me.

It's been a bit damp the last few days so not much sunshine at all. Hoping to get some tomorrow. At least we did not get that stuff you got. Snow all gone here now and pretty much all the ice too and I doubt we have any frost in the ground except in some of the roads.

Watching him with the splitter, I'd say this is perhaps his first time to split any wood. I like they way he picks up a log and walks all the way around the splitter. Second log comes from opposite end of stack. Place on spitter, stand back and watch it work. This is easy! Resplit the smaller one now. Hand in pocket and go to work. Nice...

This guy gives a better review:

He even demonstrates it the right way, vertical.

You can't sit on a milk crate while splitting when it is horizontal and you have to lift all of the logs when you run that way.
