Just reloaded the stove for the third time today. Earlier in the day I was using a combination of maple and cherry, now that the temps are in the 20s I upgraded to locust. At 8pm I put in 4 nice sized 3 year old locust and about 4 smaller sized cherry pieces. Stove room is 86, tv room across the room is 76, upstairs the Pellet stove has the living quarters at 78 and the bedrooms are at a nice 73. Great sleeping temperature for us. For much colder nights I have Eheat ceramic panels to supplement. I only used them last year when the temps were below 15 consistently for a few weeks.
Glad I put all that work on craigslist gathering, splitting and stacking. Nights like these make it all worth it.
    Lets go KNICKS.

Yea I've been mighty impressed with what 3 year old locust can do. Been reading about, tried a bit last year.

White oak & hickory are the best.
If I could I'd bypass locust for either:D

Birch is good stuff! This little bit of River Birch seems pretty heavy. I have enough left to try a couple of full loads this season.

Hell, dave, you've got the King! You could load up with empty toilet paper rolls and get 8+ hrs. :fire: :smoke:

White oak, hickory, locust are all good species but if I could cut only one wood and cut all I wanted. I wouldn't have any grass to mow because it would be covered with piles of locust. :axe:
