Last night I checked local Craigslist Farm & Garden for either McCulloch or Homelite saws for the first time in weeks.Normally the only things on there are early 90's plastic Mini Mac's/Eager Beavers or the newer plastic toy junk Homelites made by some unknown Chinese company

But I found THIS - 1-43 with 17" .404 bar/chain,80cc/4.9 cubic inch powerhouse in great shape.:DA couple small bolts missing from starter housing, small crack in air filter cover & the rope don't recoil, spring needs fixed or replaced..But owner was using it before storing it properly for the winter, tank is dry & great shape.Saw was produced from May 1962 to May 1963,its very similar to my 1-42 which was previous model.

Believe it or not,but I wasn't even wanting this model but the price was too good to pass up - $45,yup that's right  Same saw in same condition on ebay would be $100-120 shipped, whether it runs or not....

Think I did OK...... ;) :dex:

Its already up there on west wall....next to the 1-80 gear drive monster... :dex: I'll get a pic tomorrow.Just room for 4 more in shed without piling them all over the floor, which is something I DONT wanna do - then I'm finally DONE. :picard:Seriously.

2 of those will be the Homie 3100G & Poulan 5200,however long it takes t0 find them. Then the last 2 will be a Stihl 090 & something else I haven't decided on yet. Would really like a Mac 940 - their last big 2 man gear drive sold from 1963-71,but those seem to be even rarer than the Homie or Poulan.

Found you a 090 just pay the guy and I'll grab it and ship it to

$2200 sounds reasonable don't it? :loco:

Link won't work. Look up still 090 on Maine Craigslist.

That's a good deal for you but the seller did just as good as on ebay. PayPal and ebay take 13% and it would be like $30 to ship the saw , plus the hasstle to box and ship. So seller would have had about $50 in his pocket in the end anyway.

    Nice for collection or parts.

I'm sure they would've charged the the $30 to ship the saw. At $120 they only stand to lose just under $16. So they still make over $100 at a $120 selling price.

Nice find thistle!! I've paid more than that for old, locked up saws for my basement!!
