This is the latest saw project I'll be sharing here. Probably not a lot to do on it. Fuel lines, carb kit ect. It was gifted to be by an FHC member at Dennis's GTG. Y'all know him as Mrxlh. Thank you again Ryan. I did some cleaning on it already and it fires up on prime. It's the AV model so it will have much less vibration than the hard mount versions I've had. 38cc. She's pretty minty for its age. The screws still have their paint. 20240514_121935.jpg

I love tinkering with the old saws, the ones that aren't really worth a whole lot but still have life in them. Good score my friend:D

Awesome Steve, I was hoping you would like it. When I snagged it I had to hide my enthusiasm, as I know you enjoy the old obscure small saws.

I have never gotten to run one of the pre-Hooskie Poulans. A coworker said they were great saws that he used helping his dad growing up.

This fuel line.....grrrr. The routing is fun to deal with. Had to remove the flywheel to gain access.

Countervibe Poulans were/are the real deal, when they were Beiard-Poulan they were a fine saw that would hang with anything else out there at the time. Emerson Electric purchased them in 1972 and continued to be innovative and produce lighter and lighter saws for the professional as well as the homeowner. Their death spiral came from the Electrolux purchase in 1984.

Sorry RCBS, I missed your reply. I agree with Ryan and your coworker. They were / are great saws. So were homelite saws until deere ruined them.

    Actually is wasn't a 306. It was a 245A. I did have a 306 though. I sold it to a guy in Wisconsin.
