Sun getting later & later, but nice it was out this morning. Ruts on the trail, Ground like concrete this AM, 29° Snow level moved up a bit more, was 44° & windy when I left around 6 PM Wood & atv trailer loaded, loading the atv up. Another offload Stack of birch rounds is getting bigger. Back before dark , today Body needs to recover a bit. Reminds me, better take a few iboo
Well you were a little unsure at the start, new area and all but you're getting there. Pile is getting bigger.
I knew it wouldn't take long before you got the wood to refill the pallets. You now have a "cube o' wood". I hear ya' on the body needing a rest.
Always thought that trailer was ingenious! Nice stack of rounds too, birch sure is a nice looking wood
Thanks 17/18 I tried to select good trees, I was being a wood snob But I got fooled a few times & got some that the base was punky in the center & one that had a rotten top section, All in all, mostly real good wood
Thanks Yea, this time of the year I can get snowed out of the cutting area any time. The road/trail in has some steep part that I can't pull the loaded trailer up if iced or snow. (Barely make it now with a full load) Got stuck one time, was getting pulled back down the hill was in low , 4 wheel drive, scary, hard to keep the trailer straight. Took some work & a while to get out. So I quit when the trail becomes slick. Be nice to get a few more loads, never have enough wood.
Thanks I got a used trailer , modified it a few years ago to fit my needs for the wood cutting area. Hard to find a place to turn around in there. I loose a couple tail lights every year. Had to un hook & fight it the first time in, learned turning around a 20" (from ball to rear) in the woods in=s not a good idea. ATV trailer is an addition this year , needed it because of warmer weather & mud. Working out better than skidding logs all the way to the truck/trailer. Bucking in the wood is much easier, faster & I don't have the dirt / mud /gravel in the logs to dull the chain.
Loks like a 4 x truck guy was trying to get into the cutting area earlier & got stuck several times. Found some tail light & other truck parts on that section of the trail. Where the trail goes into the woods, it gets tougher, steep & narrower , so he stopped & turned around there, but left behind a rutted mess. I bet it was a fight in & out . Thought about working on it, but then someone would try it again & make it even worse.
