Our last frost date is 15 April every year. Hopefully that is also the case this year. A number of years ago we had a late frost and killed 24 tomato plants. No garden for last 3 years or more, got tired of feeding the deer
Mother’s Day weekend is usually considered safe around these parts…. May try to get in earlier this year with how things are playing out…
I'm somewhere around growing zone 6a-6b with an average last frost date of May 1st. Last year we had a hard freeze a week or two after that, which killed a lot of fruit tree blossoms. It's warming up fast now but we're not out of the woods yet.
It's "officially" spring in these parts....one day of 70+ degrees, grass is green, cherry blossoms popped and my face got sunburned after a few hours, even with sunscreen. We have several nights in the 30s upcoming. Garden goes in Mothers Day weekend, as that is usually safe from the last frost.
May 10 is what they say for here but we see frosts many times in June but at least it is scattered frost. We have lost some garden things in June. Once when we were Yoopers I remember losing almost all the garden stuff in July.
Here plants stay inside until Memorial Day… Lilacs in bud now.. Apples bloom in mid May frost devastated them last year
I used to beat the frost threat by using hoop covers and cold frames for my tender long season plants. I have an attached solar space to my home that has set empty for the last few years as I am not physically able to manage a garden. I have been entertaining the idea of growing things in there and not in the ground just to have something to tinker around with.
