My wife's boss would like these trimmed. I'm wondering if I wack them below the windows they may look like crud. Any ideas how to make them not look so overgrown? Besides taking them to the ground. Thanks for the help in advance. Gotta go mow my hay field or lawn while it's not raining.
If those are yews...and it looks like they are... you can't hardly kill them if you try. Just take them down about 1' below the desired height and shape them up after they push off new growth next spring. Paging will711
They look like Yews , and do exactly what lukem said . Might look a bit rough at first , but they will be fine . The way I prune is to take a little off see how it looks , then take some more if if need be , You can always take more off you just can't put back have to wait till it grows back
Agree, and I that was asked of me, I would warn the owner they aren't going to look like much for a while. I would cut half way down and then in until they still had green showing. Then keep up with them every year or you will be right back where you are now. Overgrown shrubs next to a house are not at all attractive.
Yup. Just show those fluffers a picture of a cliff in Wyo., they'll back right up. So I've been told.
