'Lake Effect' definition: Every time the wind blows to the east expect snow to come with it until the lakes freeze.
We're fairly lucky in that when the west side gets a lake effect event, it poops out before it gets too much farther than Gaylord. Usually. We're another 35 miles or so east of there. We end up with the tail end. If they call for something like 8" (or whatever), we'll end up with a couple ".
For the Lake Effect region it's normal, we usually get some before Thanksgiving but nothing that stays.
Boy I hope we don't get much snow for the next month and a half. Let it fly just before Christmas, that's what I say.
Early for lake superior to start icing up though... http://abcnews.go.com/US/ice-visible-lake-superior-weeks-ahead-schedule/story?id=26939239
They talking about ice forming in the western basin of Lake Erie already too. Waaaay too early for that, but the forecasted lows are 11 on monday and 12 on Tuesday. Yikes.
When It finally is iced over, yes. We don't get the effects as bad as the northern guys, but it had dumped on us plenty. I remember reading that last year, it stayed frozen much longer than previous years.
Now that'll get your attention! Hope you have a blower or plow Zap. Moving snow by shovel/scoop with those amounts is no fun! Just to keep you company, we're supposed to get 10"-12" today through tomorrow. Drove past one of my scrounge sites (the mother load) last week Thursday...nothing but snow! "See you after snow melt"
