I saw a Kubota side x side, owner said it's a 2006 model, it might have been a RTV900, not sure but it has a 3-cyl diesel engine. Has a hydraulic dump bed. Also has something I have not seen -- two remote hydraulic hookups at the rear, under the bed. Looks like tractor remotes, where you hook up a hydraulic implement. Owner said you could hook up something like a log splitter there. Would you need a splitter made for a tractor or could you modify a regular motor-driven splitter such that hoses could hook up there? How do people use such remotes on a UTV, what do they use them for?

Lastly, any idea how much this would be worth in good working order? Appears to be a great machine... hydraulic dump bed, front winch, front LED lights, receiver hitch, generous size bed, probably good towing and load capacity and the hydraulic remotes. I suspect it has less than 500 hours or certainly less than 1000, as he bought it with 300 hours on it. I might make the guy an offer, try to trade him cash plus a John Deere Gator. I don't think this guy needs such a robust machine, he just drives it to his neighbor's house plus to his deer stand and hauls the deer home if he gets one. My little gasoline-powered Gator can do that! I don't think this fellow does firewood because he contacted me to see if I want a hickory that fell from wind. Yep, I do!

I have no familiarity with this machine and any optional hydraulic system that it may have, but I would bet that it would be exceedingly slow running a log splitter...even using the hydraulics on small loader tractors is pretty slow honestly (unless they have some sort of high flow system...which would be more common on skid steers)

Thanks, you certainly nailed it! Beats me why I didn't find that with my digging around. I guess their remote hydraulic thingy didn't catch on so well? I'd still love to have the machine for the hydraulic dump bed! But, I need to research it and find out if this model Kubota is a reliable one. OTOH, I also need to revisit putting a hydraulic or electric lift on my Gator. It's been so long since I looked at that, can't recall what's available. Often, price is an issue, this stuff can be cost-prohibitive as an add-on!

You could probably get an electric over hydraulic linear actuator to work on your Gator for a LOT less than upgrading to the Kubota if a dump bed is all you are after.

    Something like this:

Yes, would just need to find one that is not uber slow and that replacement parts are available; the Kubota hydraulic lift is fast! Another benefit of the Kubota side x side is I'm guessing it has a good load capacity. Also has a larger bed than Gator.

Remember that load capacities, like instruction manuals, are just another man's opinion.

My Honda Foreman says it can town 850. I've easily tripled that on many, many occasions pulling 1/2 cords of hedge out of the woods on my 1000lb harbor freight trailer. Not saying you should, but you can.

I don't suggest being overloaded at high speeds on public roadways, but toting some firewood around the property doesn't concern me much.

The rtvs at work have plows with up down left right capabilities.

And that's all this lil system is really meant to run...those cylinders are small diameter and short strokes compared to a log splitter.
Another thing that would be an issue that I didn't think of before is lack of power...a log splitter has a 2 stage pump and gets the majority of its power from "low gear"...so the Kubota system being single stage (very very likely) and only 5 GPM would not only be slow, but gutless too...for log splitter duty.

I believe Kubota sells a hydraulic powered snow blower of the RTV as well so the pump must have enough capacity.

I think Gasifier sold a RTV - 900 with a snowplow not long ago, I'm not sure what year it was but maybe he could give you an idea on the cost.

I think there used to be several hydraulic attachments for the Kubota RTV, one of them was a hydraulic pole saw...

I can't find anything on their website

I sold a Diesel Kubota 1100 RTV with V-Plow. Hydraulic dump bed. Cab with heat and AC, Radio. It was a 2009 if I remember correctly. Very low hours (under 400) on working meter. $17,500 for your reference.
