I got this Kubota back in August and been tinkering with it. Got to get fluids changed, yet. But the 3 point hitch doesn't work. I can move the lever arm forward and backwards to make the 3pt up and down. But nothing happens. I hear a bit of a grind in the middle spot, not sure what's going on. I'm guess a oring or some internal component has failed. But its got a Auxillary hydraulic diverter valve under the seat (which runs supposedly runs 3pt hitch or the Auxillary). Which currently its set up to run the front blade. Which is set up on a 2 spool valve body. I know a little bit about hydraulics, but don't want to ruin anything. So until I get time to get into the rear end of this tractor to figure out what is the issue. Can I replace the this two spool valve with a 3 or 4 valve spool (will be for a hydraulic cylinder to raise or lower the 3pt hitch). This tractor primary job will be snow removal and tree getting. My JD X720 will do the rest around the house. Just wanted something with 4wd and small frame. Never owned a Diesel either, so there will be some learning curve there too... Advice?
Your little Kubota is power beyond and minimal hydraulic flow too. If I were you, I'd mosey over to www.kubotabooks.com and download the shop manual before doing anything. Leave a donation too, they will appreciate it. I believe I have a lightly used genuine shop manual for it tucked away in the shop, but I have to lo0k to be sure. I can tell you for sure than the valving in your picture is not stock OEM Kubota. If it was mine, first thing I'd do is a complete fluid and filter change (including the air filter, before anything else and grease it too. Use Kubota fluid, not some cheap assed farm store stuff and do the front axle as well. My 2 cents, take it or leave it. Your choice.
Well got the fluids purchased yesterday... and talked to the service tech today he had me do a little trouble shooting. And it finally started to work. So that part works and now I can change fluids and start to play with the new toy...mmm tool...
As to the Diesel engine, if it doesn't have one, put in a block heater. Warm oil flows better & faster to the moving parts, cold starts cause more wear on the engine than almost anything else. Those little Kubota engines will start really well in the cold, but it's not the best for them. Glad the hydraulics are working.
Look into a magnetic heater that you simply stick on the bottom of the oil pan , They work pretty well and are easy install. As far as the spool valve there is not much in there to repair , the spool just seals in the bore of the valve and generally has no servicable parts other that a few seals on the ends to keep oil from leaking out.
Congratulations Kevin! I like those little Kubotas and would like to get one someday. They are a nice size in the woods.
