Also, ask 'em about veterans discount. The stores offer it, don't know about over the net.

I’ve had one for years. It takes a beating. I love it. It’s an older model, but I did get it from Northern Tool.

Thanks for the heads-up Eckie . I've been thinking about buying a kindling cracker for a little while now. I just couldn't justify $129, but for $79 I ordered it this morning. Amazon also has the XL cracker on sale for $79.99.

Anyone know if the background story of this is true? It was advertised by a girl who either invented the thing or was backed up by the company and contributed to the design ? They made it slightly more expensive to help profits, I believe but for what I can’t recall.

I have the kindling cracker and really like it. With a small mallet you can make a ton of kindling easily.

I bought one last year and it’s a great tool! Nice to support a small business like that also. I don’t use much kindling but this makes the job easier and more pleasant.

I was going to make one, but the wife cautioned about having another thing you don't use sitting around.:hair:

    The kindling cracker arrived today.
After 30 minutes I have enough kindling for couple of weeks. It's definitely a safer way to make kindling. Good product, good price.

I also got my cracker today. Was it necessary? No. But I think my fingers will appreciate it.

I bought three back when they came out. Wish I had waited for the X large. The original could be bigger. Works good even though I seldom use it. I don’t seem to need much kindling.

Could you use it to split something easy to split like red maple or sassafras in there to make regular splits? Like 4" diameter limb rounds? I don't mean for kindling, talking about making a limb round into two splits. What about oak that size, even to be split into kindling? I probably have 1.5 face cords of small diameter oak limbs that size.
