A few weeks back Tim had a sweet of Husky 55 the he had just finished putting a 028 dome piston in. After seeing it on the classifieds, it was calling out to me saying that it wanted to move north. It arrived yesterday and so today, after installing a new bar and chain and giving her a quick tune in, headed for my log pile of sugar maple.

I can tell you that the old girl pulls like a 20 mule team thru that Sugar Maple. What a fantastic running old 55 Tim has provided. On top of that she arrived clean as a whistle and the packing was outstanding. Thanks Tim ole' 55 has a happy new home.:thumbs::thumbs:

Congrats on the new saw. That will be a dandy firewood saw.

Your dealing with KRL sounds like mine....he's a good guy.

Bill, it was my pleasure! I'm glad you like the saw.

For those that have a HVA 55 floating around that has the 46mm jug and want to give this a try, the conversion is easy to do yourself. You will need a Meteor Stihl 46mm 028S domed piston #1143, you take around .006 off the inside shoulders of the PP boss and you are good to go! Some messing about is necessary to get the squish right but when finished, the saws run very well.

If you happen to have a 372 floating around try a HyWay 52mm BBK and a Stihl 064 piston in it, same deal .006, you will be surprized!

That 55 pulled on my heart strings for a long time. It was not only a good runner, but a super Minty model as well!

I too have bought a saw off of him, and also bought a saw off of CL (my locale) and shipped it to him. Both transactions were flawless and I spoke with him on the phone for about 3 hours total now. I can say he is a wise man, and we both share motocross (and broken bones) as our background! :dex:
