I am doing a kitchen remodel, and upgrading all insulation. As it all starts to go back together, I am considering adding a kickboard heater (electric) under the sink. Does anyone have one of these? If so: My wife wants it under the sink, but I read online that they can be hot on the feet. But then, she likes warm feet, so what are your thoughts? (Likely will install a 1000-1500 watt unit.) Is Broan OK, or should I consider a different brand? Why? I am thinking 110v on it's own circuit, any reason to go 220v (which will be a little more complicated)? I am thinking of using an internal thermostat, with a wall switch. Not ideal, but a clean install. What do you think? The reason for the heater is the kitchen has tended to be a little cold. The insulation and sealing will help a lot, but this should as well for little additional cost at this time. Thoughts?
Put one in a condo 15 years ago. Because with the kitchen cupboards there wasn't a good way to add more regular baseboard hydronic in that area. It's worked fine, it's on its own thermostat 110 volt. The kitchen area is about 350 square feet.
Grab a hair dryer, set it on the counter, turn it on and VOILA. It's also portable (to an extent), so could be set on the floor for the tootsies. Done.
Probably a couple times... We had one at my mom’s place that was piped in the hot water baseboard loop with thermostat run to a fan circuit. I’d run the electrical to an exposed jb under the sink with enough BX cable to the heater so you can eventually service the fan or t-stat someday And the counter mounted switch on a 20a double horizontal switch break the crossover and wire garbage disposal in a double gang with toggle switch for light over sink.
I've only experience with hydronic ones - mostly mitigating annoying vibration noises from fans. One in a bathroom and no one ever complained about their feet being too warm.
