Here is just a couple off my phone, there will be much better ones later once we get them off the wife's camera.
We were repairing one of our pivots at Ti Tree which is the dead set centre of Australia. From us it is 2600 km of bitumen and 25 km of dirt.
You can see that it isn't that desolate fauna wise and as soon as you apply a bit of water the the grasses grow like crazy.

Hit a snag with the camera pics; the file sizes are too big to upload. Dont know how to get around that. Bugger.
250 km North of Alice Springs. We drive past the Ayers Rock turnoff which is 200km South of Alice.

Went there 21 years ago on the honeymoon (anniversary yesterday) dont think it would have changed much.

load the files onto your computer, then open the pix in a photo handler and reduce the size of the pictures to about 700 x 900 pixels and resave.

They are large pictures as they come from the camera (2400x ????? pixels likely)

Probably 2 MB in size or more.

I use some freeware called "The Gimp" to reduce image size. It's a PhotoShop equivalent and did I mention it's free?

Us Mac users have it easy. Just connect camera to USB port & turn it on, "Photos" app on computer automatically opens. Upload pic to Photos, and then download to desktop. I use the "medium" size selection......just right for most any forum download. Total thing takes about a minute.

    GIMP IS GOOD

I run a distro of LINUX (ZORIN OS9) on my computer in place of the WIN STUFF and GIMP is the included graphics editor.

About the same as Photo shop, just open source is all.
    Great pix

    GIMP PROCEDURE

    OPEN GIMP

    CLICK OPEN THEN SELECT PICCY
If the piccy was shot on a phone it may display sideways and a box will open asking if you want to turn it.

GO ACROSS TO IMAGE IN THE TOP MENU

GO DOWN THE DROP DOWN TO SCALE

    CLICK SCALE
    WINDOW OPENS WITH PICCY SIZE
WIDTH WILL BE SHOWN IN LIGHT BUE.
CHANGE WIDTH TO 700 (Seems to be a good size for forums)
    HIT ENTER KEY ON KB

SIZE WILL CHANGE TO CORRECT RATIO
CLICK BLUE SCALE BUTTON AT BOTTOM RIGHT OF SCALE BOX

    PICCY WILL SHRINK

GO BACK TO MAIN TOP BAR AND CLICK FILE

GO DOWN THE MENU TO OVERWRITE

    CLICK OVERWRITE

    **** Note****
If you click save, the piccy will be saved as a different file type than jpeg

Always export the finished piccy back to your folder as a .jpg so it will be readable on forums and such.
Clicking on save will save the piccy as an xcf file (Gimp native file type) "Experimental computing facility"

ORIGINAL FILE WILL BE RESIZED and saved as a smaller version of the original.

OR you can click EXPORT and save the piccy as a different name (Original might be Truck1.jpg "full size" and the smaller version could be Truck1s.jpg

The way you do it can suit your own preference.

Just be sure you save the file as a .jpg (best to use low case)

If you forget the .jpg its not gonna know what to do with the thing.

IF YOU GO ACROSS THE TOP BAR TO COLORS, YOU CAN GO DOWN TO BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST AND FIDDLE WITH THEM IF YOU NEED TO ADJUST THEM A BIT.

Gimp is a great software and the best part is it's free
