Another round planned for today. And I can’t wait!!

Nice pile of boards there. Looks like you've got some cedar staged up behind it too (or hemlock without the bark?) Is this going to be siding for the building you're making for the sawmill?

Sassafras has a distinct odor when sawing a very sweet smell it takes time to learn all the different woods especially when the identifiers are not there ( Bark,Leaves ) nice looking boards .
Most any wood works for siding the only thing is softwoods are very tasty to carpenter bees JB

This was 3-4 year down barkless sassy. The aroma was minimal when i sniffed it yesterday. The color was different too. Made some nice stock though. Glad i didnt turn them into firewood. IMG_1436.JPG

Now that you mention it... my first thought yesterday was man, this guy must have the most knot-free hemlock logs in the entire state! Hey, I'm still way off on ID plenty of times myself

Couldnt get that good of an aroma from them. The wood had a duller color than fresh green sassy when milled.

My sense of smell isn’t the greatest to start
With. Everything smells like pine when milling. I run pinesol mixed with washer fluid for blade lube
