With winter still holding its grip up here, I have been pulling out project saws and doing some builds. Always wanted a 346xp but I have to be a stubborn...

I have a trashed piston in a 2150 that I am thinking of doing a project on. Here is the question....

Husky 359 flat top piston in stock jug and delete base gasket and maybe a 359 carb or..

Aftermarket 346xp top end, muffler mod, mild port use stock carb or 359 carb.

    Feedback is appreciated

Yes, nice find. I have seen that guys post before. I only know of two suppliers with good closed port cylinders available. Would be nice to find an aftermarket supplier that has a nikasil closed port 346 cylinder.

Seems the 2145 has the same bore, minus the riser block that the 2150/346 uses and a different cylinder.

Mitch makes a great video. Great "How To's".

That's about as good as they come when going from a 340/345/350 (or J-red equivalent) to a 346 upgrade :)

Had the chance to run one at all thats been converted? I wonder how close they compare between the two? If anything, I am guess there is a slight edge on weight reduction with the clamshell vs magnesium case.

As with any modification, I am guessing or at least in my experience longevity suffers.
