Anyone have any luck installing the big bore kit in this saw? I have to split the bottom end on it and look a little closer at the bearings on it, looked like maybe the clutch side peeled the inner shell out. The prices on those kits are tempting.
Will the jug clean up? If so, I'd find out for sure what caused the failure and then put in a Meteor piston........ if the jug is smoked, then I'd use this http://www.baileysonline.com/shop.a...=58926877945&gclid=CICn4Jrf-LwCFYsWMgodnhcAUQ
I have heard good things about big bore kits on those saws. I was pretty tempted to use one myself for a 362XP Special that toasted the top end. But I was able to get the cylinder cleaned up and just tossed an OEM piston in it. If your cylinder cleans up, I wouldn't worry too much about going for a big bore. The last saw I built using a BB kit did not make significantly more power than a similar machine running an OEM jug.
Thanks for the input on performance of the the BB kit, I'll update the thread when I get around to doing some more work on it. Sometimes mods are more headache than it's worth!
