When my wife and my kids are all askin what I want for Christmas. They get real pizzy when I tell them I need for nothing. All I have ever wanted outta life was a warm place to chit and a dry place to sleep after all. But tonight after I got home from work and got a far lit in the stove I turned on the evening news and saw all the black Friday fights at the shopping malls. I made up my mind that all I really want for Christmas from here until the day I die is that Christmas doesn't have to be this way. Animals, just plain and sure, my fellow man have turned into greedy repulsive animals.

I fear for the day when society comes to a total break down. If people will act like animals over a T.V. or a blender, what will they do when they are out of food or shelter? Sorry for the rant but this really troubles me at a time of year that is s'posed to be happy and fun.

What we don't know is how much of an issue this is. The news will present anything it wants to sensationalize. They tailor the presentation to fit their goal. I went out for pellets today. The clerk said they were busy right after they opened for about an hour, then two hours later, it all died down. I shopped some on line.
Now I do mostly on line shopping and gift cards. Those gift cards sure are easy to wrap!

I'm sorry, but I totally disagree with you. I've always wanted a warm place to sleep and a dry place to chit, but that's just me. :p
As far as Christmas goes I totally agree with you.

I agree completely! Christmas has gotten totally out of control. When a holiday seems more like dread than fun...somethings wrong. Our family has agreed to "scale-back" to a time when things were less stressful and fun.
If everyone would take a stance maybe we could re-claim Christmas. Oh yea...it's Christmas around here, not X-mas :)

i agree with you all ,its a shame and a disgrace what it has become,i try to avoid tv as much as possible but this time of year it is much worse ,not to worry in a few weeks it will be over,as for shopping i pick up things whenever i see them if its something i feel would be a nice gift for someone ,there are good deals all year round if you keep your eye out for them.

Haven't watched any of the black friday news. Don't give a heck and don't care to. Feel the same way about journalists and the reporting of news. I actually can't remember when I have watched evening news the last time.

I think you nailed it. My sisters do the early shopping stuff, certainly not for me. They really like it, and aside from long lines their feedback is positive and they are always able to save money. Sort of become their tradition, and if it brings family together then their is your silver lining.

Me, I like online shopping for 90% of what I do, and I like to sleep.

Over commercialized, yes indeed, but so is everything.
