I spend a few moments every day on FHC, still love the forums and still leaning from all my fellow hoarders. A recent career change after 20 yrs, purchase of a recreational property and my 14 yr old daughter keeps me pretty busy but I certainly appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping this site up an running. We all like pictures so here’s a couple from the biggest hoard I’ve fallen into. Local farmer asked me if I’d be interested in some dead ash trees in his bush that his dairy cows graze through. Of course I would thank you very much! My woodcutting partner (83 yrs young), my daughter, and I spent 5 days hauling out 11 loads with 2 kubotas, grapple and dump trailer. I figure we got about 40 facecords, nothing got broke and most important, everyone went home safe. It was a great time and now I’ve got some CSS to look forward to for the winter. Hope you enjoy the pics and take care everyone.
Family, friends and toys all together for a common cause, life is good! Great haul, that will keep you warm in many ways for a long time to come.
That is great getting all that ash. In addition, they have not been dead long enough so that you will notice any decrease in quality of the wood. Nice to have such help too! And yes, with tractor, grapple and wagon, it takes a big load of work off you. Now comes the bucking and splitting. Have fun!
Pretty awesome score. Can you go through woods up there to get the ash trees and not destroy a lot of other trees? You had tractors in the woods? Just curious.
WOW, some great work, great wood, great company, and did i mention great score! Doesnt get much better than that! Keep us updated with work progress pics Smoketr1973 Will the wood be shared?
Love the pics, the tools and all that ash! Way to go Smoketr1973 ... enjoy the winter CSS sessions...
OMG dats slotta wood! I've had a couple good scores over the years, but that's way bigger than anything I've lucked into. Grats!
Eewww,,,I see sticks,,,,lots and lots of sticks. I like sticks. My dog thinks I’m crazy. First year for me processing ash. Seems like nice stuff. They say it burns nice
