Is huskvarna cheapening the brand?

I was at my local menardes today and noticed they have started carrying jonsred. It’s not a brand that has been widely sold in my area so I haven’t actually seen many of them. Definitely nothing too new. So I was looking at them and to me they seemed really cheap. Like the plastic looked cheesy and the choke and kill switch seemed to be on par with the type of thing you would find on pouland. And the 50cc saw only had one bar nut. :loco:
So are they trying to run this name down to build up the huskvarna brand much like black & decker did to porter cable to sell more dewalt. Or is this just how these saws have always been?
Also I was at my dealer the other day that services huskvarna, stihl, and echo. And he told me they aren’t stocking any husky stuff right now an till they can figure out if they want to be a box store brand or not. Seems like all the big stores around here are selling husky’s now.
Will they be in Walmart next. 826281AA-5825-446E-8ADD-479527E20D94.jpeg C7D0BE53-B5E5-45F1-B717-D47A96877984.jpeg E02EFDFD-107A-4A85-853B-470C10C8C0A6.jpeg

All brands are going to sell out to the bean counters bottom line. Sell more cheap crap to the masses. Around here you can go in TSC and buy tools with the "Snap On" brand on them.
HD started the trend with their T Shirts.
    Profits, bottom line, greed.

Yes but there has to be a higher quality line or “prosumer” line of some sort. Lawn companies aren’t going to use pouland crap.
Maybe I should stock up on quality saws now. They will bring a premium if everything goes to crap.

Husky downgraded the Jonsered line. It's just cheap homeowner grade stuff now.

I don't worry as I know my saws will outlive me and work a whole lot better than I do.

One more reason I'm happy with all my vintage stuff - Everything from chainsaws to woodworking machinery to hand tools for working wood, metal & stone. The newest that I know of is barely 30 yrs old,the rest is 50 to well over 100+.And all will still being going strong long after I'm compost,no matter who their next owners might be.

IMO this switch to big box/discount stores over from servicing dealers with actual qualified technicians is the same route McCulloch,Homelite & Poulan took back in the 70's & 80's when they ignored the professional user & went after the consumer/homeowner market instead.

And we know what happened to those companies soon after that don't we? :loco: :mad:

Yeah I love it! $400 for a saw that will last me two years and I can’t get parts for.

Interesting you bring this up. My kids work at the local TSC store here in Ontario and my son informed my that they just started selling Husqvarna saws and other power equipment. They already sold Forest King, Poulan and Echo's

Yeah our TSC has sold huskvarna for a while. Lowe’s, and Sutherlands sell them too and Atwood’s witch is a farm and ranch store like TSC just dropped echo for husky. :picard: Plus a hand full of dealers around the area have them and stihl both.

it won't be long before ALL brands do it, most already have, it is a matter of survival for these companies. 90% plus of the world does not understand the difference in quality and performance and really they do not care.

    Isn't the 2250 the same as a 550xp?

I think the 2250 is the 450 Husky not the 550xp, and I think the k is the spelling of the city they are made in, not the brand.

It is Huskvarna, Sweden, the town. Not Huqvarna the manufacturer.

Other than the engine and chain cover, I doubt you'll find anything other than plastic on all saws. Metal is expensive and adds weight.
I've had my Jred for ten years now and nothing has broken or chipped off. Plastic is very good these days and I would suspect that the manufacturers aren't going to crap in their own nest on purpose.
