I have a Jonsered 2077(non turbo .....West Coast sticker) stack air cleaner. Been setting out in the weather. Is it worth saving. P.S I'm new here,by the way(positive no one noticed) tried to search for a thread. Just wondering?
I'm not the expert on 2077 and 2083 Jonny's, but I say yes. Post some pics of it, there are members on here who will give you good advice.
Welcome aboard Southern Utah I don’t see what your looking at. I’m a believer that unless it’s literally shattered, there’s still a chance to be viable. Add some pics.
Welcome aboard. Hear is the mess I drug home a few weeks back. Hoping to get something out of all of this.
It was my first saw, I bought it from a timber cutter who didn't like it. Pictures didn't upload any advice there?
My two cents . . . If that was mine , I’d restore/rebuild it . I don’t know how hard ,or easy it is to find OEM parts for that particular saw . But then , finding them ,and getting an older saw back up to scratch is all part of the reward for doing this sort of thing .
no idea about parts, but seein you have the whole thing there, I would consider it. Pull the muffler and look at the piston. If it looks good, take it apart, clean it up, see what you think. If it doesn't look good, do a parts search, and decide from there.
Parts are my worry, there is a guy that used to sell and service them just up the road from me. When I get a minute I'll tear into it(and take pics).
The Jonsered 2077 and the 2083 are the same saw as the Poulan 475 and the 505. I have 6 of them. I have 4 poulans and 2 of the Jonsereds. They are good saws and have lots of power but at this stage of the game the parts are getting hard to find. One the Poulans I have is part Jonsered because I could not find the poulan parts for it. Some people are using pistons from stihl saws in them but it does require some modification. The crank seal on the PTO side has been NLA for a good 8 years and I know of no replacement. You will not find that part I know I have looked. Some of the parts for the oiler are also NLA and very hard to find. Anyways if you have a source for parts then they are good saws.
Had a minute to tear into my saw today(got dark.....pics will come). The piston has lite scoring, a lot of carbon build up, pretty sure the carb is toast and the cylinder seems good....other than the carbon in the compression camber.
Jonsereds was bought by Electrolux in 1978 and the name changed to Jonsered, and they then changed to red huskys. Partner and Poulan were also bought by Electrolux and they all shared parts/designs. Now mother Husky is killing off the Jonsered pro saws and I believe they are Red Max.
The Jonsered 2077 and 2083 and the Poulan 475 and 505 were a Partner design and share a lot of the same parts. No Husky in there any where. Partner, Poulan, and Jonsered were bought out but these particular saws were not a Husqvarna design. This saw is a Jonsered handle and fuel tank and a Poulan crankcase.
