I have some time at home before starting a new venture, so today I cleaned and fired the stove for the first time. I have read everyone thinking an OAK is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have always been so so about them. Well with the stove running I thought I have all the parts and it will probably take all of 30 minutes to do. I took a few measurements, cut some piping, drilled a hole thru the band board, plugged it into the back of the stove, WOW instantly the flame grew brighter blue and taller.
    I am now a believer

Did you happen to notice a lack of floor level air movement towards the stove once the OAK was hooked up? Some do, some don't.

no i did not, stove hearth sits up about a foot. I also always have a floor fan blowing towards the stove for circulation
When I went down to scrape it this morning I did notice the burn pot has less build up on it though

My experience was to get less air movement from leaks around windows, doors and ceiling (yes, that's right, tiles with little holes in it that let the air come down from the attic instead of sheetrock - a genius built this house for the Northern latitudes ). But hey, a perkier flame is always good too.

Thanks Wildwest. Same here. I like WY and MT. Pretty states. Is your K5 diesel or gas?

Eaton. OH Huh? I did a job about ten years ago in Elriya. You are about 5-6 hours NE of me. Keep that Great Lakes cold up that way as best you can. LOL! I see you are about 7 or so degrees warmer than down here. Go figure.....

Last time I was up your way I flew onto Put In Bay. A local friend of mine has a place there and a plane here. Much quicker than the drive.

Gas. One of the first models with an aluminum drive train. 302 original that was great on gas mileage, but the last engine is 350 with dual exhuast and sounds awesome!!

Yeah, I can relate to that. I was just lucky enough to have a buddy who was lucky enough to be a trust fund kid. About the only plane I would own would be one I make from folded paper.

    Howdy Rona!
Hope all has been well up there in MN. I exchanged some emails with Tom W. not long ago. Glad I found you all and I remember you talking about another site. Looks like you are cooling down up there. This weekend we are going to drop quite a bit. Lows of 24* or so at night and I believe Sunday has a high of 36* or close to that. This fall has been nice here. Nothing like last years cold. My wife (teacher) and kids were off school for a snow day last Nov 17th. And it just stayed cold, cold all winter. Have any new projects? Is Tom W. on this site? If so what's his handle? I'll be around. Take care
