Way too high. A new one with a 42" is usually around $1700 if the dealer isn't asking full msrp. The 47" bar is around $300.

Either his buddy gave it to him good or he's trying to start a career in used car sales. As Mike said, $1700 or so is the typical price tag on one new.

Just looking at the photos, that thing makes the 3/4 wrap and elastostart handle look tiny! (Item's that usually look large on other saws!!)

Perhaps he bought it at the government's "cost"...which always seems a bit high...

There's on (half-wrap?) collecting dust on my dealer's shelf. I have no idea what I'd use it for but it's been tempting more than once and I could have it for cheap I'm sure.

If you need a good milling saw they do that. For bucking wood I'd rather have a 394/5 with a 42".

That's exactly what I would do with it. I'd like to get into milling but I'm not sure if I could stop at a chainsaw mill. My FIL likes to work with wood (furniture/cabinetry) as a hobby and I know a few others that would buy premium hardwoods. I know where there's a log trailer with a grapple loader, gonna need a bigger truck, and how big of a band mill do I need to get a 28" cherry on, etc..... :picard:

I'd just love to run one of them "bad-boys" on a big-assed tree just to say that I did run a saw "THAT BIG"!!!!!!!

Co-sign this. Even with a 59" they list for 1999.

That's where the saw comes in on the bigger stuff than you can do on a band mill for live edge.

How do they compare to a 3120? I've lugged one of those around and it was a heavy SOB. Cut the 7-trunked 60+ inch maple pretty well though

It depends on the 3120 coil. If it's a 12k rpm coil the 3120 was stronger and easier to run. The newer 880 is lacking to me compared to the older 088 and 084.
