At least I think I am. Things are settling down a bit here and I am hoping life will continue to move back towards normal. What me and my family have gone through so far has been hell and it is even worse for my brother, who was attacking in his home by his supposedly loving fiance. Instead of dying at her hands, he decided to fight back and is now awaiting trial for murder. Keep us, and mostly him, in your hearts as we continue to try to move forward. He says that helps ease the pain are the little freedoms they charge dearly for-- 50 cents per minute to speak to his family, a couple bucks for a candy bar, three dollars for a puzzle book. It's all about the almighty dollar in our prison system-- anything that he can buy on commissary we are not allowed to give him. We can bring in used paper back books for him to read, but a puzzle book is not allowed. Nor can we send him a stamped envelope to write us back, they have to be bought at an inflated rate. Ok, I'm going to stop before I blow another gasket.
WOW.. So sorry to hear what's going on within your family, that's a LOT to deal with. The prison system in this country is what it is because they promote 'corporate prisons'. If they had their way we'd all be inmates. We've become the commodity, not the consumers. Just ask Facebook or any other of the host of "free" internet sites that collect (and sell) user information like skittles.
Seems like it should have not even charged him if he was attacked? Did the police look at evidence? Man this is hard!! I have a buddy who was arrested for Homocide due to a boating accident. Charges should never have been pressed without going into a huge detailed story. He turned himself in once they pressed charges like a month after the incident but was released on bond the same time so was never in jail. Before it went to court a law was pulled up and charges were dropped but my buddy still lost, he had to pay the attorney, BUT he is not in jail. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I am so very sorry. For every sort of discrimination or harrassment or violence or whatever, there is a HUGE population that endure the reverse of the stereotype. Unfair in so many situations.
Better than a public defender. The lawyer should be able to discuss what he's been charge with, and probability of outcome. You have a long road ahead and it's gonna get frustrating. Try to stay frank and factual when dealing with this, look at the situation as clinically as you can. I went through something similar with a buddy of mine, he's been in a while now. But, he was guilty also. So I took as much emotion out of it as possible and it helped me and others deal with it. (it wasn't a spouse he attacked, just some guy that pizzed him off).

The NRA has a defense fund to help I'm legal battles such as this . I am not sure if one has to be a member or not but I do know they take on in some part certain cases. I am not sure if this is assistance with experts or just the whole defense? And I am assuming a gun was used. For all I know there could be a crowbar or any other method even automobile? ? Just a thought based on the previous post.
