    The short and sweet.

Got my first very own personal chainsaw, a little Stihl MS180C in July, and a Fiskars X27 shortly after (thanks forum for the wisdom), and my wife bought me the Fiskars Isocore maul for Christmas gift.

First I gave my grandfather some Boisdarc, then sold some Live Oak to my mom (on the cheap, and have been keeping her stack full, no charge), then sold my first oversize face cord to the next door neighbor.

Well... Time, gas, 2 cycle oil, bar oil, vehicle gas, tires... It adds up...

I had cut and stacked this plus a little more of Boisdarc

Grandad that I gave some to says he'll trade me a cow for my stack. I walked over and shook his hand. We did each other a favor on this deal and now my wife gets to pick a heifer.

I'll have to update on this, as it aint really a profit till you have the money in hand.

I'm with you, I love the native name of Osage, or Osage orange.

Sounds and looks like you got a great deal! I’d trade those stacks for a cow in a heartbeat! Sounds like grandads happy with the trade too. Looks like you’re processing some nice firewood. Nice work:handshake:

Black angus, likely a small percentage of polled heirford in there from years ago.

They are beef cattle. There are dairies close by to the east, but it's all beef local.

Hopefully you have access to a lot more double O species of firewood. It is renowned for its superior BTUs. Quick check on CL for the Dallas area didn't show anyone else selling it. Become the osage orange go to dude and you will do well like buZZsaw who owns the BL market in CT. Get cutting, splitting and stacking!

black angus would get you poplar/ cottonwood.

Hereford would get you some ash/ maple etc.

Jersey would get you cherry and hickory. The good stuff for smoking.

Most of my fence corner posts are osage. I've seen posts well over a century old of boisdarc, and still straight. Naturally insect and rod resistant.

It's not easy to find 8 or 9 feet of it that is straight, though..

That's coveted wood IRRC? Or am I confusing it with a different orange wood available west of the Missip?

It's high btu wood. Coveted by some. Not all west of the Miss. There's spots along the road sides and field "fence rows" here in Michigan. I don't think I've ever burned any here. My dad will collect the fruit in the fall. He claims it helps repell mice and spiders.
