I had this go out about 2 months ago and replaced it and now it has gone out again. Any ideas why it might have gone bad so quickly?

Did you go OEM or aftermarket on the coil?

I replaced my coil on my 455 rancher with an ebay coil. It lasted a couple of months. I just hated to spend $129.00 on the Husqvarna dealer coil.

As Mike said, the aftermarket coils don’t last long at all. This is one area to get OEM.

Yes. But not correct for your saw. Wrong part number.

Used OEM is better than aftermarket

OEM part number for 455 Rancher should be

    5440470-01
    5440470-02
    5440470-03

All three are usable, just generations.
It does look like the price has come down since I had to replace. Some places are around $50 plus shipping. My local dealer is still $100 plus though.
