I bought this Oregon 22 ton splitter and can’t figure out what the black accessory is for?

That's a 4 way wedge that slides over the red one on the ram. It splits rounds into 1/4s vs 1/2s.

4 way wedge. Fits over the splitter blade so rounds are quartered instead of halved. Never have used one on a horizontal splitter before,

I made one for mine and it makes it go a WHOLE lot faster! Easily 3x as fast. You have to set the wings back about 1.5-2” behind the primary wedge so it pops the round one way before the other. That way it doesn’t take any/much more tonnage than a regular wedge.

I have videos on my youtube.
