Gearing up for this incoming ice storm... Our area is forecast to see 1” of ice. 35 mph winds with higher gusts. Brought in a rounded off cartload of 2 to 3 year old, well-seasoned splits. Generator fired up on the first pull. Fresh set of batteries in the flashlight. But most importantly - Got the saws topped off with fuel and oil, chains sharpened and fresh fuel mixed. I expect to see some trees down on Tuesday morning. I’ve got Tuesday off - think there may be some potential hoarding happening. If it’s safe to do so...
I wish I had more wood in the bin, but I'll be fine for a few days. Other than that, I should be GTG. Just need to fuel up the cars. It looks as though we are going to miss the worst of it though.
Fired up the generator as well. Went to change oil and filter doesn’t look like the right size. Thought I had the right one...
Yeah... an inch of ice is sure to bring down branches and wires. Mostly rain here. ...we hope. Stay safe
It’s during times like these that I’m glad I bring in 3 full cords at a time. My generator is set, chimney and stovepipe cleaned today. I even split about a half cord of Red Oak to finish off that 3ish cord stack, and filled two 1/3rd cord forklift bins with a combo of White Oak and Maple
Cart is great. Had it a couple seasons now. Much better than the old rickety wheel barrow I was using.
News tonight said you guys have an ice storm warning. Rare occurrence for that in Connecticut. Just rain expected for us down here. With an inch of ice im sure you'll be in the wood. Be safe and keep the fire going!
Batten those hatches and keep the home fires going Woodsman... looks like you're ready to go... good luck.
