Picked up the recommendation from you fine folks and got my hands on a couple of IBC totes. I cut the tops off for a cover but what does everyone do with the rest of the totes? Not sure what was in mine as the chemical name was scratched off. Maybe motor oil in some and road line paint in the others. The gentleman I bought them from told me to burn them but I have a wife and kid. I’m not trying to create a hazmat situation or pollute a portion of our land. Any good recommendations as I doubt anyone would want them for anything without the cages.
Imgur gallery of some of our wood for next year. I may be younger than most but I couldn’t figure out how to upload photos on mobile: We have 12 and just picked up another 7. Might get another load of 7 so we can have a full 2 year supply in rotation.
Cut on the diagonal it makes a nice roof for the tote. I wouldn't burn them either with or without oil/paint residue in them. Do you have a local hazmat drop off site for homeowners?
I’ll have to check! I wasn’t sure if I could go to the normal landfill since it’s unknown. I tried the diagonal but our wood is somewhat visible from the road, the wife liked the more minimal look of the flat roof, I think I like it too since I just toss it on and find a scrap piece of wood to stack on the top. Plus most of the ones I got had a good bit of left over residue in the sides, figured I didn’t want any of that falling off onto our wood.
My extras I just sawzalled it in small pieces to fit in several heavy duty bags and they went out to the trash…
that’s what I was thinking too. Might ask my buddy if he would let me toss them in his commercial dumpster
I just put mine on the curb with a "FREE" sign on them. Gone! in 3 days! Lastly, if you have a recycling center near you, they will take them.
