I have been working on my mini skidder engine. First off the top stud fell out of the starter. It was a stud from previous battle. The stud fell out of my hand while trying to install it. Couldn't of landed in a worst spot, the opening between the cowling and flywheel. I attempted to pry it out with a screwdriver. In the process I cut a wire real close to where it was going into the engine. Now way could I solder it where it was at. Pulled the cowling and flywheel to repair the wire. Reassembled. Put the starter in. Started up and ran. Battle won, so I thought. Went to turn it off and it continued to run, Must still be a solder behind s tree. I know what causes that. I've fought that battle before. The little black wire came off it's terminal. Black wire was off the terminal. Put it back on and it still wouldn't stop. Went the internet. The thing has diodes in the stop. Tore off the cowling to get to diodes. Sure enough they were open. Ordered the diodes and they came in today. I had brought the wires to the outside so I can still run it. The diodes came in today and I installed them. It runs and shuts off now. I won that battle. Darn thing wants to try and kick my arse all the time.
Perfect example. I was just doing some electrical work and found a section of romex that was chewed by rats years ago. Open conductor just sitting there in the ceiling/wall junction. Almost got roasted on that wire.
