I’m headed to Vermont for the week starting tomorrow morning so I put in a 6 hour day cutting. Just as I’m about done a neighbor sends me a message about free wood in the new neighborhood that backs up to mine. On the way home from moms farm, I swung by to check it out. I really wasn’t in the mood but I just couldn’t say no to this all sitting at the curb! This load is just shy of two cords and I barely made a dent in what’s there. Everything on the truck is oak and that’s mostly what’s left along with maybe half to 3/4’s a cord of maple. I paid the kid down the street $20 and in 30 minutes had this loaded up. It’s another warm one today!

Wow! I would love to find a pile of wood for the taking like that. If that was around here they would be asking a few hundred for that pile

Honestly, that's a great way to start off the vacation/ week heading to Vermont. IF you'd left it on the curb, you'd kicked your self all the way to Vermont, then on the way back home, lol.

Holy smokes that's a premium unexpected score for you. I'll bet the kid down the street was thrilled to make a quick $20 too. Win-win.

Yeah, you can't beat that wood, or the cheap labor! That's a heck of a load for 30 min...hopefully your truck dumps? Maybe you can hire the kid again after unloading for another quick load....

Yes it dumps. It will sit in there until Friday or Saturday. There’s a lot of big pieces left behind and this new neighborhood has no fireplaces and is one way in and out. I have a strong feeling there will be wood left when I get back.

cut from storm damage? Nice convenient score. So is vacation getting delayed so you can get the rest of the wood?

Just planned tree removal. I’m in Vermont. The wood can sit or it can go. Either way is fine by me
