65BBD82C-3DE9-4C40-BF32-7BF41C15506A.jpeg I have been doing the “pallet racks” for years and getting sick of the way it looks all over my property.....I want to build something nice not a enclosed shed or anything. But something so I don’t have a million piles of pallets on my property. Pics and advice plzzzz

If you don't want a bunch of pallets and piles then make a solid row. I use plastic pallets. Ideally I should build a larger wood shed and be done with it.
You can stack the row on your property line and have a privacy fence

A little hard to tell from the picture, but I stack on landscape timbers. I build an end frame out of treated 2x4, and if I need to I'll sink a landscape timber in the ground to act as extra support.

You could do the same with pallets lined up in a row.

Agreed with the above - pallets lined up tend to look neater imo. You can even add sides if your corner skills aren't up to snuff. I'm kinda messy by virtue of the random lengths I deal with, but it's neat enough to keep the wife happy. This cube has 6+ cord. If I were stacking to optimize dryness, I'd use shorter pallets and make multiple rows for better air flow.

Plastic pallets are great because they don’t rot into the dirt but they are slick and the wood tends to slide too much.
I have started to just stack with a tapered end and not worry about cribbing the ends, the cribbed ends look nicer but I like the convenience of the tapered ends.

I hate pallets. Stacking on saplings ore even on some larger logs works great and then you don't have to mess with the ugly pallets when they are empty. You don't break through these either when getting wood off.

I like pallet racks. I build mine on a plastic pallet for the base with timber sides that are made with frames that I get free from work.

It helps that I have a constant supply of uniform pallets and frames to make everything look neat.

I also enjoy being able to pick them up and move them with my old tractor.

It’s just a matter of time. Why put off the inevitable? Build yourself a wood shed! Resistance is futile.

Guy up the back road from the last place I worked built forts out of his stacks. Arched doorways, windows... It was pretty cool.

Thanks. Did the pallets and tarps thing etc. It’s so windy where I live even the heavy duty tarps got shredded by the wind and would only last a year before needing replacement. So I took the plunge and never looked back. Best thing I’ve ever done when it comes to wood cutting and storage. Now it’s like a man cave. Sometimes I even like to just go sit out in my woodshed. I love the smell. It’s therapeutic. :) No regrets whatsoever.
