Wanna try out my new to me saws. FBM find. $25 for the pair. IMG_5471.JPG Dang, those old time hoarders must've had some serious arms. Many years ago I recall using one with my brother. Not fun as I was just a kid and he is 12 years older than me.

Neat wall hangers but I’ll pass on bucking with one. Especially that top one, no rakers.

On a side note, you already know the speed at which they cut at…

I bet a ported 241 would be faster and more enjoyable.

Very cool find, Brad. I've seen these pop up on Craigslist from time to time, but so far I've been too slow to pounce. Are you going to hang that up in your bedroom, above where you share a bed with the missus? I'm sure she could use a reminder of your wood fetish as the last thing she sees before drifting off to sleep and the first thing she wakes up to in the morning

     :picard:

I wanted to hang one in our open foyer just to BHB but she said no. Probably hanging one on the shed at storage. The other not sure.

I looked on eBay and they bring a decent buck. Considered selling them too being the capitalist I am!

Wasnt really looking for them but they were mixed in with "Stihl" chain saws my main search on FBM. Few hour old listing and a steal at that price. He met me halfway too and accepted my offer.

It is not hard to understand why the 'Filer Shack' was the most important place in a logging camp (maybe a tie with the mess hall). If you have no choice other than a two man cross-cut saw....it had better be *sharp. I'll bet all the loggers were nice to the filers. I'd love a hands on demonstration of proper sharpening of tools like this.

I have one handed down from my grandpa. He was great at setting the teeth and rackers and sharpening them. A good one cuts better and faster than you think.

When I was about 20 years younger I bucked a rick of wood with one just to say I did.
