I'm still fuming. Let me settle tonight and I'll elaborate tomorrow. Long of the short is dogs that don't bark and bite are great pets but nothing else, and when pu$$ies see pistols they leave. Nothing stolen other than pride. Gsd here I come.

I'm not John Wayne, no pulling happened, and I'm ashamed it took me until today to realize it happened. :headbang:

I was asleep on the couch, and somebody came inside my house 8 feet from me. I never knew it. Pistol next to me scared him away. Only reason I knew was my back door was open.

So, did you catch someone on the act ?

Yes, labs are great loyal dogs, but most are not great at home protection. Happy loveable labs, big goofballs. Now, if you had a kid in danger though, even a lovable goofball lab will protect with their life.

I'm debating calling. Dude got an unsecured duty weapon 5 houses down. I'm currently drinking about it. He hit 8 other houses on my street.

No catching in the act. More like sleeping with a pistol and dude saw that and ran.

something scared them away...maybe just the fact that you were home. Or the dog did let them know...
    just not by barking?

(Diesel is sweet as could be, but he doesn't warm up to people when I'm not there.
I had a few friends that told me they wouldn't even come into my house if they hadn't already known our yellow, Nitro. He was intimidating )

I wake up if the dog moves. He didn't move. Guaranteed.

I'm just flat scared to call the cops 48hrs late and say I just figured it out Cuz a neighbor told me about the duty weapon. Not to mention I'm drunk by legal standards.

I've decided to call in the am. A drunk report does nobody any good.

A guy trains for the moment and then sleeps thru it. I'm beating myself up pretty bad right now. Ya just never know when it's gonna happen.

Fyi, harbor freight has some motion sensors and door sensors.... cheap and easy to set up. I can give pointers if needed. Put the guns away for the drunk phase, if taken from you they could hurt you more.... your stuff is one thing, your life is another.

Alright brother, the beatings need to stop. Thank God tonight for protecting you, and get some sleep.
You can figure out a better protection plan in the morning. Even if its just a set of cow bells on the back of the doors.

Security cams going in tomorrow. And yes, I need entrance sensors. Got links?

Everything's locked up other than the leather on my hip and the nightstand piece with a light. I don't see much sleep happening tonight.

Even if you haven't got any cow bells, some Christmas jingley bells would help....or, like the Mel Gibson flick "conspiracy theory" you could balance a beer bottle on the door knob. Just don't go running out the door barefoot should it fall and break. But I'd say that sound would wake ya up quick.

Id have no idea if someone came in my house without evidence or laying eyes on them. I have 3 teenagers that cant figure out doors at times.

Scary stuff man. My black lab is a barker, she earns her stay just for that. The brown dope, yeah he guards the bed he is laying on with his 85# of destructiveness.

I've been pondering cameras for a while, your story makes me think it is time to do it.

You ever think that you didn't wake up for a good reason? I'm not one for fate or God's will, but just thinking... You hear too many stories of the bad guy's ending up the victim in the cases of home invasions.

Harbor freight has those DVR systems with like 3 or 5 cameras. From what I have heard there worth the money.
