Sent my wife and youngest daughter off to the big city.(something about a holiday coming up and shopping to do). Me thinks to myself. What a perfect day to block lodge pole pine..
    So.

I started with this pile from last Saturday and added to it.

If that wasn't enough. A dim bulb went off in the noggin and I went and rented a splitter for the rest of the day.

No milk crate buried in the garage. Bucket would have to do. Worked like crazy had to have the splitter back by five.
Split 2 cord. Didn't finish all the blocks..
Could not ask for a better day..

Looks like a pretty good load of wood you have there. Can't beat that lodge pole pine. You know one of those 5 ton electric hydraulic splitters will split that pine pretty easy.

I have one of those splitters and they don't like to run below 40 degrees however you can use ATF oil instead.. I should change to that someday myself..

Whenever I am out in Lodgepole Pine country I wonder how easily those tall, straight trunks split, and I wonder how they sometimes manage to grow so close together.

Problem is, here in PA most people buck logs into stove length billets, we don't block logs, so I am not sure what you actually did yesterday.

Waddle, I'm betting you don't have too many days with "very slight wind." Must really seem nice. Here, we had lots of wind, more than normal in October and November. So far December has been better but along with no or light wind has also came lots of fog.

    1. If you select the close one they split easy. If you cut the lone wolf with all the limbs not so easy
    2. They actually grow better in tight clusters
    3. Buck, block, rounds or whatever you call it. Still firewood in the end and I'm fine with that.
    4. Yesterday mostly took pictures for fellow fhc.:)

Seldom do we have fog. We call it low cloud cover.. Thursday we had a storm front blow in. Was really hard to keep a fire in control. 22 mph wind with gust all over the map.
It was a chilly but a really nice day..unlike you shorts and tee shirt weather. Crazy.
