I noticed a few drops of oil on the ground under my mower while I was moving wood around yesterday. I got underneath it and cleaned around where I thought it was leaking. While idling and the transaxle engaged I could see fluid seeping from the charge pump cover. Where do I go from here? Has the seal went bad inside that charge pump? Hydro-gear makes a charge kit. Should I order that kit and replace all that while I’m in there?

According to reviews on Amazon for the charge kit (assuming it’s the right kit for me) it should fix me up!

Awesome! It looks like that kit fits several models.

I emailed hydro-gear during lunch and they said the 72274 kit is what I need.

I’ve had this mower for about 4 years now and never had this happen. I adjusted the brakes earlier this year and tightened them more than I probably should’ve. Would that have caused my leak?

Finally got around to ordering this charge kit, a belt, and filter and got most of it put on after work. The new cover plate is much heavier than the old one. Pulled out 2 10mm bolts and the old pump all but fell out. Not much oil was lost. Installed new parts and fired it up. No leaks so far!

    Old and new.
