Anyone seen these yet?...A man could buy 2 x27's fer the price of one of these..does look kinda cool tho
I saw those a couple weeks back when I was searching for a new handle for an ancient plumb axe I was restoring that belonged to my great grandfather. Would be curious to see how it weighs compared to the X27.. an X27 with another lb on it would be pretty awesome IMO
I've got one. Worth the extra $25 over the x27 to me. It splits stuff with knots that the fiskars bounced off of. My 65 year old dad liked it better as well.
http://sleequipment.com/husqvarna-s2800-splitting-axe-580761401.html Weight is 6.17lbs,total length 27.6 inches. Fiskars X27 is 6.28 pounds total & 36" length
The head has more weight than the fiskars. It has a larger flat that can be used to drive plastic wedges.
Does the s2800 have a lifetime warranty? I have broken one x27, and Fiskars replaced it no questions asked, didn't even have to return the broken one.
How did you go about getting it replaced? And what did you do with the old head? I've thought about welding some meat on the back of one of mine to give it more snot... wanna sell the broken head?
10 years. I don't care how good the fiskars warranty is but the x27 head isn't near as good as the first SS 28" they had. I broke a fiskars handle myself.
Just filled out a form on their website. I think I had to supply a picture. Sorry, gave the head to my FIL, not sure what he did with it, I'll have to ask. 10 years sounds decent, the head does look better on the s2800, I'll see if my local dealer has one next time I'm there, not familiar with the original SS, before my wood burning days, your x27 does look well used
The x27 might have split a cord. I used a 12 lb maul more than it. It kept getting stuck or bouncing. This new husky maul split stuff I had give up on with the fiskars.
That was maple. It only had on small knot in it. The x27 I had to swing harder to get the same results.
