Well I have tried to reset my 550 this year. Let idle for 5 minutes did the 3/4 throttle tip in log it never smooths out. It still runs and cuts OK just sounds like it's always hunting. Up and down on the full throttle. Starts hot or cold no problem and really does not bog out in a log. I have always run the premixed good gas in it. It also idles perfect. Also it's a Mark ii bought Jan 2022
Does it hunt while cutting? If. It I probably wouldn’t worry about it Lastly if the dealer is close maybe stop by and ask them to set the saw
I will try it again. I can clearly hear it in video when it adjusts. I did my 562xp and it still has been good since I did it back in 2019. I saw a post on another site about the diaphragm going bad 550 style carb. And also air leak on the way they put carb on the saw. But if it was that should have done it since new. Thanks for replys
I try not to. It's hard enough to remember to pull the starter cord out 2 to 3 inches to before I shut it down also. Which I never new about till I just had to replace the starter pulley on my 562xp. And its funny the 550xp actually pulls the cord right out of my hand 562xp barley pulls at all.
Like mentioned, you need to bury enough of the tip to where it’s putting a load on the saw and make a continuous wide open cut for 2–3 minutes without changing throttle position. Somewhere around 60-90 seconds straight it will start to adjust
I did this yesterday during my lunch break . I could here it start to autotune then it started sputtering towards end. I cut a couple pieces seemed to be ok. I will put it to test this weekend when I bring up a few log lengths from down back to the split pile. Thanks
Thank you.. the 550xp ripped up shop again. No hunting today. Only cut up 2 log lengths of wood today. Spent the day splitting. Did some big stuff and the nasty knotty crap and y chunks today. Got another cord plus of stuff that I normally would just burn in the burn pile. Might as well put it to use even though it seems to kick my azz.
