Up for sale is my 1997 Husqvarna 55 with closed port cylinder. I bought this saw used recently and have run about a tank of fuel through it. It has a new top end, piston, cylinder and rings, all aftermarket non oem, not sure which brand as the work was done by a saw shop that was local to the previous owner. The tank has been flushed, and a new gas and air filter have been installed. There are just shy of three tanks of fuel through this saw since the new top end and she is just starting to wake up. It starts, runs, idles, and oils without issue, but stills needs to be broken in. The plastic and the condition of the saw is as good as I have seen for a Husky 55, I think the pics will speak for themselves. $225 plus shipping and fees PHO. I'm only selling this (and probably another saw) to help finance a new one.

This is a great deal! A closed port 55 is a great firewood saw. I'd rather have one of these than ten 455 Ranchers/MS 290's.

It's not a clamshell design. This is Pro design (cylinder on case) and a super Minty one at that. :)

Someone is gonna get a great saw here. I have a Closed port cylinder on the way for mine. :) I can't wait..

Am I the only one that doesn't know what a "closed port" is?

Open-style Transfer Ports - Notice how they are machined down the length of the cylinder and "open" to the cylinder bore for their entire length?

    Closed-style transfer ports.

Closed port cylinder saws are said to produce more HP per cc. Most people just consider them to have way more torque. I think most pro model saws have closed port cylinders.

Yep. Everything he said is true.

Some "Pro" style saws have Open port cylinders, but it's not always the case.

The 034 has a standard open port, while the 034 Super and 036/036 Pro are all closed port. :)

I don't suppose we (collectively) have an understanding of why this would be... ?

I believe this saw is for sale elsewhere. If someone is thinking about it, they better jump.

It is my understanding that the vast majority of them are closed port.
